Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
Lock-up solenoid SL controls the transmission lock-up function. Solenoid SL operates when it receives voltage from the transmission control module (TCM) and is activated under different driving conditions depending on road speed, throttle position and the driving mode selected. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-0012 is stored if the control module registers that the signal is too high in the circuit for solenoid SL when the solenoid should not be activated. Solenoid SL is then probably permanently activated.
Substitute Value
- The control module does not activate the lock-up solenoid.
Possible Source
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable.
Fault symptom[s]
- General orange warning lamp lit.
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
- Harsh gear shifting.
- No shifting.
- Irregular shifting.
HINT: Harsh shifting - because the solenoid is permanently activated, the lock-up function is permanently engaged in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears. Harsh shifting and engine braking function in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears.
