The steering angle sensor is initiated with a steering wheel movement of at least ±5° within a certain period after turning the ignition on.

Diagnostic trouble code BCM-110768 is generated if the steering angle is not initialized after 2 minutes of driving at a speed over 10 km/h (6.2 mph).

Initialization can also be performed after BCM-110768 has been stored before the ignition is turned off. The anti-spin warning light will then go off. BCM-110787 is also generated if initialization is not performed before the ignition is turned off.
