Replacing The Component

The engine control module (ECM) has registered an internal fault.

NOTE:

This diagnostic trouble code may have been stored incorrectly due to the Engine control module (ECM) considering that the battery voltage has been lower than normal. Newer software for Engine control module (ECM) has been made more durable and thus this problem cause is eliminated.

Make sure that the Engine control module (ECM) has the latest software.

Troubleshooting shall only continue if the control module already has the latest software.

If the fault is intermittent, it has been registered previously but is no longer present. Intermittent faults can be caused by interference at start up of the engine control module (ECM) or may be a different type of fault which occurs on different occasions. The fault is evaluated depending on how it occurs. Replace the engine control module (ECM) if the fault recurs.

Replace the engine control module (ECM) in the event of a permanent fault.

Remedy as necessary.
