Checking the connectors and bus cable
Remember that the CAN network is only a communication network. There are no fuses, contact breakers or sensors on the CAN bus. Check resistance as below (see instructions).
To obtain the correct value the battery must be disconnected during resistance measurement.
Check the bus cable. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-circuit to supply voltage. Permanent faults . Check for an open-circuit according to Open-circuit, permanent faults .
HINT: If possible, when checking open-circuits, measure from the rear of the affected connectors so that they are not damaged.
Check the intermediate connectors. Check for contact resistance and oxidation according to Contact resistance and oxidation .
HINT: If the fault is detected before all the following cables have been examined, select Continue.
The following cables and connectors should be examined to localize a short-circuit.
The cable between:
- Road Traffic Information (RTI) #22A and rear electronic module (REM) #17A.
