Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) is located inside, and is supplied with power by, the steering wheel module (SWM). Only the steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) communicates on the controller area network (CAN).

Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) contains two processors which work together. The processors continuously check the communication between them. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the main processor in the steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) registers that the information is incorrect in any way.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the ignition is switched on and the steering wheel angle sensor is initiated. Initiation is carried out when the steering wheel is turned more than 4.5° in any direction.

Substitute Value 

• The stability function is blocked.

Possible Source 

• Internal fault in the control module.

Fault symptom[s] 

• Anti-spin warning lamp lit.
• General warning lamp lit.
• The stability control system does not function.
