The control modules transmit and receive information via a standardized serial communication method, CAN (Control Area Network). Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored if the steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) registers that information from the central electronic module (CEM) is missing.

Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) is located inside, and is supplied with power by, the steering wheel module (SWM). Only the steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) communicates on the controller area network (CAN).

Substitute Value 

• The stability function is blocked.

Possible Source 

• Incorrect information from the central electronic module (CEM).

Fault symptom[s] 

• Anti-spin warning lamp lit.
• General warning lamp lit.
• The stability control system does not function.
