The control modules transmit and receive information via a standardized serial communication method, CAN (Control Area Network). Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) registers that information about the ignition key position from the central electronic module (CEM) is missing or incorrect for more than 2.5 seconds.

Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) is located inside, and is supplied with power by, the steering wheel module (SWM). Only the steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) communicates on the controller area network (CAN).

Substitute Value 

• The stability function is blocked.

Possible Source 

• Information from central electronic module (CEM) is missing or incorrect.

Fault symptom[s] 

• Anti-spin warning lamp lit.
• General warning lamp lit.
• The stability control system does not function.
