Control module, replacing

Preparations 

• Ignition off
• Remove the air cleaner (ACL) housing and the hose for air pre-heating.

Removing the control module 

Clean thoroughly around the connectors.

Release: 

• The control module connector by pressing in the latch on the rear edge of the lid (towards the wheel arch). Then carefully turn the cover upwards so that the lock catches release
• Pump motor connector

• Remove the four screws
• Carefully lift the control module out of the car.

Checking the control module 

• Check that the control module is of the correct type depending on whether the car is equipped with TRACS or not
• Check that none of the pins or sockets on the connector are damaged
• Check that there is no dirt on the mating surface between the control module and the hydraulic modulator
• Check that no part of the control module seals remain on the hydraulic modulator valves.

Installing the control module 

Center the control module to the hydraulic modulator valves before the valves are pushed into place.

• Install the control module. Tighten the screws. Tighten to 1.8 Nm.

Connect: 

• The connectors for the pump motor and control module
• Remove the air cleaner (ACL) housing and the hose for air pre-heating.

Function test 

• Read off any diagnostic trouble code (DTC)s stored in the control module and erase them.

• Check that the ABS warning lamp stops flashing.

• Test drive the car.

• Check that no new diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored.
