Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition 

The control modules communicate with each other in a network via a standardized serial communication procedure - CAN (Controller Area Network) - to exchange information. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is generated if the engine control module (ECM) registers that the software does not correspond with the other vehicle configurations, which results in the engine control module (ECM) being unable communicate with the other control modules.

• CAN communication is disabled

Possible Source 

• faulty software in the engine control module (ECM)
• damaged control module.

Fault symptom[s] 

• electronic throttle system (ETS) warning lamp lit.
• The cruise control does not function at all
• The engine shudders under acceleration
• The engine shudders heavily after engine braking
• Uneven idle.
• Switch to gas power not possible.
