Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-7170

Condition

The engine control module (ECM) checks the signal to the cooling fan motor for the control modules.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) registers a fault in the signal.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed at ignition on or with the engine running.

Substitute Value 

• None.

Possible Source 

Signal too high 

• Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable
• Damaged control module cooling fan.

Signal too low 

• Open-circuit in the signal cable
• Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable
• Damaged control module cooling fan.

Fault symptom[s] 

• None.
