Checking The Status

• Ignition on.

  Check the signal from the accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor.

  Click on the VCT2000 symbol to read off the signal level.

  Slowly depress and release the accelerator pedal (AP). Note the change in the signal level.

  The voltage level in the accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor must be between 0.15 and 4.85 volts.

  HINT: If the signal from the accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor indicates <0.15 volts, there is either a short-circuit to ground in the signal cable or the accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor is defective.

Does the value change? 

• YES 

  Refer to VERIFICATION 

• NO 

  Refer to CHECKING THE COMPONENT AND WIRING
