Checking Components And Wiring
The fault must be corrected and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) erased before further fault-tracing can be carried out on the parking assistance module (PAM) and its components.
Check the connections on the rear electronic module (REM) and parking assistance module (PAM). Check for contact resistance, oxidation and damage.
Check the fuse for the back-up warning system.
Check the relay for 15I supply in the rear electronic module (REM).
HINT: In case of a fault in the operation of relay 15I supply, a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored in the rear electronic module (REM).
Check the power supply cable between the fuse for 15I supply and relay #1, between relay #3 and the fuse for the back-up (reversing) warning system, and between fuse and the parking assistance module (PAM) terminal #1. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Check the ground lead between parking assistance module (PAM) terminal #8 and the ground terminal. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Check the cable between the rear electronic module (REM) connector terminal #8D (#B08) and the parking assistance module (PAM) terminal #12. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Try a new parking assistance module (PAM) if no faults were found.
