The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the phone module (PHM) detects a short-circuit to ground in the signal between the phone module (PHM) and the reserve microphone. The reserve microphone is located behind the panel containing the SOS and ON CALL switches. The reserve microphone is used when a Volvo On Call service is connected and the phone module (PHM) does not have access to the microphone for the audio module (AUD).

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the ignition is switched on (not key position 3) and when the battery voltage is between 9-16 V. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can only be diagnosed for a phone module (PHM) with Volvo On Call functionality.
