Electric Oil Pump (EOP)

The electric oil pump is located on the converter cover next to the control system, which is mounted on the front edge of the transmission. The oil pump's function is to ensure that the correct pressure and flow is obtained for the transmission during automatic start/stop at the request of the transmission control module (TCM). This occurs by the C1 clutch being active during automatic start/stop, to directly transmit torque when the engine restarts. To avoid the C1 clutch slipping when the engine cranks/starts (before C1 pressure is increased, which is created by the mechanical oil pump), the C1 clutch pressure is maintained by the electric oil pump (EOP).

The electric oil pump is powered via the engine control module (ECM) relay grounded via the transmission control module (TCM).

In the event of a fault on the oil pump, the automatic start/stop function stops working.

The electric oil pump can be diagnosed by the Transmission Control Module (TCM).
