The engine control module (ECM) has integrated control systems for detecting internal faults. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) registers a fault in the internal voltage references.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the ignition is switched on.
