Checking The Status
- Ignition off.
- Wait approximately 10 seconds.
- Engine running.
- First turn the steering wheel max. to the right, then max. to the left. hen set the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position.
- Read the trouble code counter by clicking the VCT2000 symbol in VIDA (Volvo scan tool).
The counters are used to determine the problem's status. or general information about the counters, see:DESCRIPTION OF COUNTER Counters 5, 6 and 7 are not used during this check.
Counter 1 indicates the number of drive cycles without fault since the fault was last validated.
If counter 1 is the same as 0, this means that the fault has been detected in this operating cycle (permanent fault). Replace contact reel/steering wheel angle sensor.
If counter 1 is over 0, this indicates that the problem has not been detected in this driving cycle (intermittent problem). he problem has existed earlier but is not active right now. he digit indicates number of driving cycles since the diagnostic trouble code was generated. hen check counter 4 .Counter 4 indicates number of driving cycles with problem since the problem was validated for the first time.
- If the number of incorrect driving cycles is high, this indicates an intermittent recurring problem. Replace contact reel/steering wheel angle sensor.
- If the number of incorrect driving cycles is low, this indicates an intermittent temporary problem. o action.
HINT: Counter 3 indicates number of driving cycles since first time that the problem occurred. f the value for counter 3 is divided by the value for counter 4, he intensity of the problem is obtained. he higher the value, the higher the problem intensity. high problem intensity indicates that the malfunction recurs often.
NOTE:Replace the steering wheel module (SWM) if the fault recurs after replacing the contact reel/steering wheel angle sensor.
Remedy as necessary.
