NOTE:

When working in or under the engine compartment, the Remote start, engine function should be deactivated during the workshop visit for safety reasons.

To deactivate the function temporarily, go to Diagnostics/Vehicle communication/CEM/Advanced and select deactivate/activate Remote start, engine. When the vehicle is driven above 30 km/h the function returns to normal status automatically.

NOTE:

Remember that the vehicle can also be equipped with Remote start, engine ERS via Volvo On Call and can then be started remotely.

Using the Remote start, engine (ERS) function, the engine of the car can be remotely started. This is to heat/cool the passenger compartment prior to departure. The climate control then starts using the same settings as were being used when the car was parked.

For Remote start, engine ERS to be activated, certain conditions must be met:

To start the engine remotely, press the remote key locking button quickly and then immediately press the button for follow-me-home lighting for at least 2 seconds.

If the conditions for remote start are met the indicators flash rapidly several times before the engine starts. The indicators flash quickly once to confirm that the engine has started.

If the vehicle is also equipped with Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM), an acknowledgment that the engine has been started is given via the remote key's LEDs.

The function deactivates in the event of any of the following:

When the engine is started using Remote start, engine ERS, the engine switches off automatically after 15 minutes. After two activations of Remote start, engine ERS, the engine must be started in the conventional way before Remote start, engine ERS can be used again.

In the event of a function fault, an error message appears in the Driver Information Module (DIM), which informs why the function could not be started or why it was switched off.

The function is only available for vehicles with certain engines in combination with automatic gearbox and only on certain markets.

Cooling and heating performance varies depending on the engine's capacity, the size of the passenger compartment, outdoor temperature and selected climate settings.
