Active Noise Control (ANC) (S60 (11-), V60 & XC60 T6 4-CYL)
Active noise control ANC (Active Noise Control) is a function that is integrated in the Audio Control Module (AUD). Active noise control ANC consists of Engine Order Reduction EOR, and Engine Order Enhancement EOE.
Engine Order Reduction EOR
A function that reduces unwanted noise inside the passenger compartment.
Low frequency noise that occurs at high engine load is reduced by anti-noise played from all loudspeakers in the passenger compartment.
The undesired noise is not eliminated completely but reduced to some extent.
Engine Order Enhancement EOE
A function that strengthens and harmonizes electric and engine noise
An engine note similar to a 5 cylinder engine is played from the loudspeakers in the passenger compartment.
For the function (algorithm) to work the Audio Control Module (AUD) has two microphones and is connected to the HS-CAN.
The task of the microphones is to check the sounds produced. They are installed in the center of the passenger compartment, one at the front and one at the rear.
The Audio Control Module (AUD) receives the following information via HS-CAN:
- Engine speed, torque and ratio from the Engine Control Module (ECM).
- Current gear position from the Transmission Control Module (TCM).
- Information about open windows or doors from the Driver Door Module (DDM), Passenger Door Module (PDM) and Central Electronic Module (CEM). If a window or door is opened or closed, the EOE function switches off.
