Check The Control Module For The Steering Wheel Angle Sensor
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the connector for the steering wheel module (SWM)
- Wait 150 seconds
- Connect the connector to the steering wheel module (SWM)
- Ignition on
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the control module for the steering wheel angle sensor.
The EEPROM in the control module stores diagnostic trouble codes (DTC), diagnostic trouble code (DTC) counters and frozen values. If the memory circuit is malfunctioning, no information can be read from the control module. Simulate a fault to check the condition of the memory. This stores a diagnostic trouble code (DTC). The memory can then be checked by reading off the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information.
NOTE:A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will be stored in the steering wheel module (SWM) when the module is disconnected. Therefore any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the system for the steering wheel module (SWM) must be erased.
