Condition

NOTE:

The diagnostic trouble code only applies to vehicles equipped with DSTC.

The steering angle sensor module (SAS) transmits steering angle sensor signals on the CAN network that the brake control module (BCM) retrieves. A reference signal is calculated using the signals from the wheels sensors, yaw speed sensor and the lateral accelerometer. Diagnostic trouble code BCM-U042862 is generated if the brake control module (BCM) registers that the reference signal is unreasonable.

Substitute Value

SC is blocked.
AYC is blocked.
TC is blocked.

Possible Source

Defective front end alignment.
Improperly installed steering angle sensor.
Damaged steering angle sensor.

NOTE:

This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not due to an internal hardware fault in the Brake control module (BCM) and must not be remedied by replacing the control module.

Fault symptom[s]

General warning light on.
Anti-spin is not operational.
The stability function is not operational.
The anti-skid function is not operational.
