The central electronic module (CEM) stores the serial number of each control module of the infotainment system. Upon start, the stored numbers are compared to the control modules' serial numbers. If the numbers do not correspond, the control module in question is blocked and the function is non-operational. The function to block non-valid control modules is called security on MOST.

The infotainment control module (ICM) checks if it is included on the validity list stored in the central electronic module (CEM).

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is generated if the infotainment control module (ICM) registers that it is not included on the validity list.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed with the ignition on for at least 12 seconds, battery voltage greater than 11 V and security on MOST activated.
