If engine control module (ECM) registers an internal malfunction, the diagnostic trouble code is generated.

The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.

Substitute Value 

• Nothing.

Possible Source 

• Poorly charged battery or corroded connection cables.
• Damaged engine control module (ECM).

Fault symptom[s] 

• Rough idling
• Message in the display.
