Checking The Function
Carry out the test with the vehicle raised so that all four wheels can rotate freely with the mounting at the ends of the control arms to prevent damage to the drive shafts.
Ensure that the vehicle is safely raised. Check that no objects are caught in the tire treads.
If the vehicle has TRACS or TC (STC, DSTC) this function must be deactivated. This is done by removing the fuse for the brake system pump motor from the engine compartment electrical center. Note that this will cause trouble codes to be set in the Brake Control Module (BCM). These codes must be erased before the vehicle is returned to the customer.
- Engine idling.
- Read off the oil pressure.
Check that the function is OK by test running the vehicle on a lift (to increase the clutch oil pressure). Run the car in a low gear or in "Drive" with an automatic transmission. Apply the handbrake slightly and read the pressure value during the test. Check that the pressure is updated. Listen as well for abnormal noises from the clutch.
HINT: The oil pressure sensor has a measurement range of 0 to 4 MPa.
Also check the clutch for leakage.
Remedy as necessary.
