Checking The Remote Control Signal

HINT: If none of the screens come on in the previous test, the probable cause is a damaged remote control or discharged batteries.

HINT: If only one screen does not come on in the previous test, it indicates that the cable for infrared (IR) signals is probably damaged.

HINT: Activation of the infrared IR-receivers in the head restraints can be checked by the IR-lights in the screen's lower edge being on dimly after the system has been turned on.

Checking IR-signal, left screen

Check the lead for the infrared (IR) signal between the screen and rear seat entertainment module (RSE) for open circuit.

To check the voltage level on the signal cable for IR-signal, proceed as follows:

NOTE:

Important in this measurement are not the absolute voltage levels, instead you get a voltage difference downward.

Checking IR-signal, right screen

Compare the latest reading as above with the signal for the infra red (IR) signal from the right-hand infra red (IR) receiver for the display screen.
