Remote Receiver Module (RRX)

The Remote Receiver Module (RRX) is installed in the middle of the roof, above the rear seat (applies to model years 2007 and 2008- for the Japanese market).

From model year 2008- (not Japan) the Remote Receiver Module (RRX) is on the steering column, in front of the Driver information module (DIM).

The remote receiver module (RRX) is connected to the central electronic module (CEM) via serial communication (LIN). The remote receiver module (RRX) receives the signals transmitted from the remote key and forwards them to the central electronic module (CEM). When a remote key is in the starter module, the central electronic module (CEM) ignores all messages from the Remote Receiver Module (RRX). This prevents the central locking system from locking if a button on another remote key is unintentionally pressed in.

The remote receiver module (RRX) checks for a signal from a remote key approximately 6 times per second.

The receiver is powered from the central electronic module (CEM) and grounded in the body.

NOTE:

Up to and including 09w22: The market in Japan has remote keyless entry (RKE), regardless whether the vehicle is equipped with keyless entry system or not. If the vehicle is not equipped with keyless entry system, remote keyless entry (RKE) communicates directly with Central electronic module (CEM). If the vehicle is equipped with keyless entry system, remote keyless entry (RKE) communicates via the Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM).

From and including 09w22: If the vehicle is not equipped with the keyless entry system the remote receiver module (RRX) communicates directly with the Central electronic module (CEM). If the vehicle is equipped with the keyless entry system, the remote keyless entry (RKE) communicates via the Keyless vehicle module (KVM).
