Connecting The Breakout Box, Component [2017-2018, B4204T11]
CONNECTING THE BREAKOUT BOX, COMPONENT
Special tools:
Special Tool: 951 3083 Motor adapter
HINT: The breakout box is a supplement to the standard breakout box that is connected to the control module, and instead it is connected on the component side of the cable harness and is primarily used on components that are relatively easy to access without major dismantling to expose components. It is designed for easier read-off of a specific component's input and output signals when control module and components are engaged, as well as for measuring the component's resistance. Using the breakout box reduces the risk of accidentally short-circuiting cables or damaging pins in the connectors.
DISCONNECTING THE COMPONENT
- Wait 3 minutes after turning off the ignition before unplugging the connectors. The system relay must have released the voltage. If the engine cooling fan runs after the ignition has been turned off, wait until it has stopped. Then wait an additional 3 minutes.
- Unplug the connector for the component.
CONNECTING
- Check that no connector pins or sleeves are damaged.
- Connect the breakout box with the connector that fits the component in question, as well as the corresponding connector to the connector for the vehicle.NOTE:
Only one component at a time may be connected to the breakout box.
HINT: The breakout box is not supported for connection to all of the vehicle's components.
RESETTING
- Wait 3 minutes after turning off the ignition before unplugging the connectors. The system relay must have released the voltage. If the engine cooling fan runs after the ignition has been turned off, wait until it has stopped. Then wait an additional 3 minutes.
- Disconnect the breakout box from the component and cable harness. Reinstall the cable harness to the connector on the component.
