Component Test. Motor, Power Operated Tailgate [2019-2022]
COMPONENT TEST
NOTE:
If valet locking is active neither the glove box nor tailgate can be opened. First ensure that valet locking is not activated by trying to open the glove box.
NOTE:
It is assumed that wires and connectors related to the component are checked and fault free.
To check the hall sensors:
- Use the diagnostic sequence option in VIDA to activate the tailgate operation.
- Check the parameter for the latest cause of why operation of the tailgate was cancelled or not permitted.
- If the parameter indicates a hall sensor fault, prepare measurement by connecting the breakout box for Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT).
- Check that the hall sensors are powered via readable parameters.
- Open the tailgate manually and check that the voltage from the halls sensors shifts between ground and battery voltage whilst the tailgate is manually moved very slowly.
To check the electric motor:
- Use the diagnostic sequence option in VIDA to activate the tailgate operation.
- Check the parameter for the latest cause to why operation of the tailgate was interrupted or not permitted and see if it indicates an error on the power operated tailgate motor.
- If the tailgate is equipped with two motors use diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) to determine which side detected the fault.
