Component Test. Power Operated Tailgate Closing Unit [2019-2022]
COMPONENT TEST
NOTE:
If valet locking is active neither the glove box nor tailgate can be opened. First ensure that valet locking is not activated by trying to open the glove box.
NOTE:
It is assumed that wires and connectors related to the component are checked and fault free.
Alternative 1
- Half open the tailgate.
- Cut the voltage to the Power Operated Tailgate (POT) momentarily, for example, by cutting the battery voltage for a few seconds.
- When the lock is in the closed position, the closing motor must draw in the bracket the final bit with help of the cable. When the lock is in the closed position, the closing motor must draw in the bracket the final bit with help of the cable.
Alternative 2
- Allow the tailgate to be as close to the closed position as possible so that the closing motor can be activated by setting the lock to the closed position using a screwdriver. If the tailgate is not sufficiently closed, the motor is not activated and therefore, if possible, it can facilitate putting the lock in the closed position from inside the cargo compartment. When the lock is in the closed position, the closing motor must draw in the bracket the final bit with help of the cable.
