(Component Test)

NOTE:

If private locking is active, neither the glove box nor the tailgate can be opened. First ensure that private locking is not activated by trying to open the glove box.

NOTE:

It is assumed that wires and connectors related to the component are checked and fault free.

  1. First check whether the key search works upon activation in another way by first locking the car with the remote key and then trying to open the tailgate via the button on the tailgate with the key positioned behind the car.
  2. Check that correct software product is loaded, there are two, depending on if Foot Movement Detection Module (FMDM) is factory-installed or installed as optional equipment.
  3. Check that Foot Movement Detection Module (FMDM) is installed correctly.

Is the function OK?

  1. Determine whether there are active DTCs connected to the foot movement detection module FMDM that indicate an internal fault or faulty sensors. If the DTCs are intermittent, use counter and status bits to determine the intermittent character of the fault and make an assessment from case-to-case.
  2. If no DTCs are stored for the foot movement detection module FMDM, try to initialize an opening request via a foot movement under the tailgate and read off the parameter for the cause of the latest activation request (only vehicles equipped with the Power Operated Tailgate (POT)). The parameter must show that a foot movement has been detected.

  1. Unlock the vehicle with the button on the remote key and try again to open with the power operated tailgate switch.

Is the function OK?

This indicates a fault related to the key search.

Cancel the component test and fault trace the antenna, keyless vehicle, luggage compartment, and the central locking function first.

In order for the components to be tested, the power operated tailgate function must work. Fault trace the power operated tailgate function before fault tracing the foot movement detection function.
