Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM) [2018-2022]
This test is used to establish a connection with the Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM).
Preconditions
- Before starting the diagnostic communication fault tracing, it is recommended to perform the test "Having problem with connecting to vehicle? Click here." under "Connected vehicles" or "Run system checks".
- The vehicle has sufficient power.
If no connection can be made, try the following actions:
Instructions
- Open and close the vehicle door to activate the Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM).
- Perform a battery reset. Note that both the main battery and the support battery need to be disconnected. Alternatively, do a reset by removing and reinserting the fuse for the Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM).
- Check the connections one by one to identify any loose contacts to the Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM).
- Disconnect and reconnect the connections to the Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM) one by one and check for contact resistance, oxidation or an open circuit.
- Connect with DICE and check whether the communication works. If the communication works, try running a reset via the "Advanced test" button.
NOTE:
Due to the rebooting of the Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM) after unplugging the power supply and disconnecting the connections, it may take a couple of seconds for the Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM) to appear under "Connected Vehicles".
If no fault could be found in the previous components in the action list but there still is a problem connecting to the Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM), there is most likely a fault in the Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM).
