Brake Control Module 2 (BCM2) (4/17) [2020-2022]: Description

The Brake Control Module 2 (BCM2) controls the brake system by regulating the brake pressure. This regulation is done by the inlet valves, outlet valves, the hydraulic pump and the brake booster.

The Brake Control Module 2 (BCM2) controls the hydraulic brake pressure by using an internal linear electric motor together with an internal pedal travel sensor. The hydraulic system works along with a brake booster and decreases the need of a braking force applied to the brake pedal. The system ensures that less pedal force is required when braking. The brake booster is based on a vacuum less system which means that there is no need of a vacuum pump.

The hydraulic unit of the Brake Control Module 2 (BCM2) consists of:

The Brake Control Module 2 (BCM2) contains of 14 electrically controlled hydraulic valves for the brake system. Four of these valves are for outlet, four are for intake, four are for stability and traction control, one for diagnosis and one for brake pedal feel.

Other control modules can send requests to the Brake Control Module 2 (BCM2) via the Vehicle Computational Unit 1 (VCU1) to activate certain brake functions.
