Alternator: Service and Repair




Generator Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

2. Remove the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement Service and Repair.





3. Disconnect the engine harness connector (1) and remove the battery positive fastener (2).

4. Remove the battery positive cable (3).





5. Remove the generator fastener (1) and the engine harness (2), from the generator.





6. Remove the generator mounting fastener (1) and remove the generator (2).

Installation Procedure





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

1. Install the generator (2) and tighten the fastener (1) to 58 Nm (43 lb ft).





2. Install the engine harness (2) to the generator mounting stud and tighten the fastener (1) to 58 Nm (43 lb ft).





3. Connect the engine harness connector (1) to the generator and install the battery positive terminal (3) to the generator stud. Tighten the fastener (2) to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).

4. Install the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement Service and Repair.

5. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
