Ignition Timing

  1. Check ignition timing with engine at normal operating temperature (cooling fan comes on). Connect Green and Brown terminals of the ignition timing adjusting connector (Lt. Gray) with a jumper wire. See Fig 1 . Connector is located at right side (under dash), next to the blower motor.
  2. Red mark on crankshaft pulley should align with pointer. See Fig 2 . If not, adjust timing. If necessary, adjust base ignition timing by turning distributor. See IGNITION TIMING  table. Tighten distributor and recheck timing. Remove jumper wire from terminals of ignition timing adjusting connector.
