Power Steering (P/S) Oil Pressure Signal

  1. Connect PGM-FI test harness between ECU and vehicle harness. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ECU terminals B8 (positive) and A26 (negative). If voltage is less than one volt, go to step 3).
  2. If voltage is more than one volt, unplug 2-wire connector on P/S oil pressure switch located on power steering pump. Connect jumper between Red and Black wire terminals. If less than one volt is present, replace P/S pressure switch. If more than one volt is present, repair open in Red wire (between ECU terminal B8 and P/S oil pressure switch) or Black wire and ground connection.
  3. Start engine. Turn steering wheel slowly. Measure voltage between ECU terminals B8 (positive) and A26 (negative) while wheel is being turned. If battery voltage exists, P/S oil pressure signal is okay. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Unplug P/S oil pressure switch connector. If voltage is present, replace P/S oil pressure switch. If voltage is not present, repair short in Red wire between ECU terminal B8 and P/S oil pressure switch.
