VSS Input Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Acura Integra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 3-pin connector from VSS. VSS is located on transaxle. Check Black wire for continuity to ground. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, check for open in Black wire or poor ground connection.
- Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage between Black/Yellow wire and ground. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check fuse No. 24 (15-amp on standard 1.8L engine or 20-amp on optional 1.8L VTEC engine) and Black/Yellow wire for open or short to ground.
- With ignition on, check for voltage between Orange wire and ground. If 5 volts exists, go to next step. If 5 volts does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Orange wire. Orange wire can have a short to ground caused by a short in any connected component.
