Section 2 (Cruise Control System): Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Acura 2.2CL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The cruise control unit receives command signals from cruise control main switch and cruise control SET/RESUME switch. Cruise control unit receives vehicle operating information from brakelight switch, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), and clutch switch (M/T) or A/T gearshift position switch (A/T).
The cruise control unit compares actual vehicle speed to selected speed. Throttle is either opened or closed based upon this comparison. A signal from the brakelight switch will disengage system when brakes are applied. The clutch switch, gearshift lever position switch, and cancel switch will also send disengage signals to cruise control unit.
