Ignition Key Switch Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Acura 3.5RL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Remove instrument panel lower cover and knee bolster. Disconnect ignition switch Gray 8-pin connector from main wiring harness, located left of steering column. Using a DVOM, check for continuity between ignition switch Gray 8-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire) and terminal No. 7 (Blue/White wire). Continuity should exist with key inserted into ignition switch. Continuity should not exist when key is removed from ignition switch. If continuity is not as specified, replace ignition switch. For ignition switch removal and installation, see appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section.
