Bench Testing: Rotor

Check rotor slip ring surfaces for contamination. If surface is rough, a #500 or #600 piece of emery cloth can be used to polish slip ring surface. Ensure rotor bearings rotate smoothly. Using ohmmeter check continuity between slip rings and rotor, individually. Check continuity between slip rings and rotor shaft, individually. See Fig 1. If continuity exists, replace rotor. Check continuity between slip rings. If continuity does not exist replace rotor.
