Vertical Acceleration Sensor Inspection

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Acura MDX, 2008 Acura MDX, and 2007 Acura MDX. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  2. Remove the vertical acceleration sensor (see VERTICAL ACCELERATION SENSOR REPLACEMENT  ). Do not disconnect the sensor connector.
  3. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (see HOW TO RETRIEVE DTCS AND FREEZE DATA WITH THE HDS (HONDA DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM)  ).
  4. Start the engine, and wait 5 seconds.
  5. With the HDS, check the VERTICALS VOLTAGE (F), (RR), or (LR) in the active damper system DATA LIST at a "normal", "lay down", and "top down" each sensor positions by moving it (see table).

    VOLTAGE REFERENCE

    Sensor position Specified voltage
    Normal 2.2-2.8 V
    Lay down 1.2-1.8 V
    Top down 0.2-0.8 V
  6. If the voltages shown on the HDS are within the specified voltage in the all positions, the sensor is OK. If the voltages are out of specification in only one position, the sensor is faulty.
  7. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  8. Install the vertical acceleration sensor in the proper position (see VERTICAL ACCELERATION SENSOR REPLACEMENT  ).
