WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:
- Record all freeze data and review General Troubleshooting Information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ) before you troubleshoot.
- Keep replacement solenoid valves on hand;
- A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valves B and C
- Shift solenoid valves A, B, C, D, and E
- Check whether the scan tool or the HDS indicates another code.
Does the scan tool or the HDS indicate another code?
- YES - Perform the troubleshooting for the indicated code(s). Recheck for code P0730 after troubleshooting.
- NO -
Go to step 2.NOTE: Do not continue with this troubleshooting until the causes of any other DTCs have been corrected.
- Drain the ATF (see ATF REPLACEMENT
) through a strainer. Inspect the strainer for metal debris or excessive clutch material.
Does the strainer contain metal debris or excessive clutch material?
- YES - Replace the transmission.
- NO - Replace the ATF (see ATF REPLACEMENT ), then go to step 3.
- Measure the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th clutch pressure (see PRESSURE TEST
).
Is each clutch pressure within the service limit?
- YES - Go to step 4.
- NO - Repair the hydraulic system as necessary or replace the transmission.
- Replace the shift solenoid valves A, B, C, D, and E (see SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE REPLACEMENT ).
- Replace the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valves B and C (see A/T CLUTCH PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE B AND C REPLACEMENT ).
- Reset the PCM memory by removing the No. 6 ECU (15 A) fuse in the underhood fuse/relay box for more than 10 seconds (see PCM RESET PROCEDURES ).
- Using the scan tool or the HDS, check to be sure that the engine coolant temperature is 176°F (80°C) or above. If the coolant temperature is low, warm up the engine to normal operating temperature (the radiator fan comes on).
- Drive the vehicle at speeds over 12 mph (20 km/h) in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears in D position for more than 30 seconds.
- Recheck for code P0730.
Does the scan tool or the HDS indicate code P0730?
- YES - Replace the transmission.
- NO - The system is OK at this time.
