Imoes Unit Input Test/Replacement

  1. Remove the glove box (see GLOVE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ) ('05-06 models) or audio unit (see AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ). ('07-08 models)
  2. Disconnect the 5P connector (A) from the imoes unit (B).

    The illustration shows '05-06 models.

  3. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
    • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system.
    • If the terminals look OK, go to step 4.
  4. With the connectors still disconnected, make these input tests at the connector.
    • If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
    • If all the input tests prove OK, replace the imoes unit.
    WIRE CAVITY REFERENCE CHART

    Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
    1 BLK (LG1) Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.5 V.
    • Poor ground (G101)
    • An open in the wire
    5 WHT (VBU +B) Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
    • Blown No. 15 (40 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
    • Blown No. 7 (10 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
    • An open in the wire
    3 PNK (IG1) Ignition switch ON (II) Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
    • Blown No. 21 (10 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
    • An open in the wire
    4 GRN (keyout) Ignition key is in the ignition switch Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 1 V.
    • Faulty ignition switch control unit
    • An open in the wire
    • Poor ground (G501)
    Ignition key is removed from the ignition switch Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
    • Faulty ignition switch control unit
    • A short to ground in the wire
    2 ORN (S-NET (IMOCD)) Under all conditions
    NOTE: Disconnect PCM connector E (31P). No. 2 terminal and immobilizer control unit-receiver No. 2 and keyless access control unit A7.
    Check for continuity between the No. 2 terminal and PCM connector E (31P) No. 25 terminal: No. 2 terminal and immobilizer control unit-receiver No. 2 and keyless access control-unit A7. There should be continuity. An open in the wire
