HFL Switch Test/Replacement

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ), and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or service.

1. Remove the driver's airbag (see DRIVER'S AIRBAG REPLACEMENT ).
2. Remove the switch case (A), then disconnect the 6P connector (B).

3. Remove the two screws and HFL switch (C).
4. Measure the resistance between the No. 2 and No. 5 terminals in each switch position according to the table.

   HFL Switch 

   RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS
   
   

   Position	Resistance
   No button pressed	About 1 kΩ
   HFL TALK button pressed	About 185 Ω
   HFL BACK button pressed	About 45 Ω

5. Use a diode tester between the terminals in each switch position according to the table.

6. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the switch.
