Secondary Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Test
- Remove the secondary fuel gauge sending unit from the fuel tank (see Secondary Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Replacement ).
- Measure the resistance between the No. 1 and No. 2 terminals of the secondary fuel gauge sending unit 5P connector with the float at E (EMPTY), 1/2 (HALF FULL), and F (FULL) positions.FLOAT POSITION AND SPECIFICATIONS
Float Position F 0.7 in (17.4 mm) 1/2 6.8 in (171.6 mm) E 7.7 in (195.2 mm) Resistance (Ω) 9 to 11 445.0 to 455.0 485.9 to 495.9 NOTE: Remove the No. 15 BACK UP (40 A) fuse from the under-hood fuse/relay box for at least 10 seconds after completing troubleshooting, otherwise it may take up to 20 minutes for the fuel gauge to indicate the correct fuel level.
