In-Car Temperature Sensor Test
NOTE:
Before testing the sensor, check for climate control DTCs (see HOW TO CHECK FOR DTCS WITH THE HDS
).
- Remove the in-car temperature sensor (see IN-CAR TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACEMENT ).
- Test the in-car temperature sensor while holding it in front of the dashboard center vent:
- Measure the resistance with the system set to Max Cool.
- Measure the resistance with the system set to Max Hot.
- Compare the resistance reading between terminals No. 2 and No. 3 of the in-car temperature sensor with the specifications shown in the graph; the resistance should be within the specifications.
- If the resistance is not as specified, replace the in-car temperature sensor (see IN-CAR TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACEMENT
).NOTE: Incorrectly applying power and ground to the in-car temperature sensor will damage it. Follow the instructions carefully.
- Connect battery power to terminal No. 1 of the in-car temperature sensor, and ground terminal No. 4; the aspirator fan should run.
- If the aspirator fan did not run in step 5, replace the in-car temperature sensor (see IN-CAR TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACEMENT ).
