Steering Angle Neutral Position Learning: Procedure
NOTICE:
- If the steering angle neutral position is cleared, do the steering angle neutral position learning procedure.
- The steering angle neutral position is cleared whenever you do any of these actions:

- 12 volt battery terminal is disconnected from the 12 volt battery.
- Disconnect the connector from the steering gearbox.
- The power supply voltage for the steering gearbox is decreased.
NOTE:
- There are three learning methods.
- If the steering angle neutral position is cleared, the VSA indicator and VSA OFF indicator will come on.
- The learning cannot be done when the EPS indicator is on.
- If the learning does not complete, check the EPS system .
- While learning, pay attention to the following:

- If you turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode while learning, do the learning again from the beginning.
- Do not lift up the vehicle, when you start the engine.
- Do not turn the steering rapidly.
Learning method while driving
- Steering Angle Neutral Position - Learn
Procedure
- Drive the vehicle and turn it right and left on some intersections at speeds above 10 km/h (6 mph) until indicators go off.
NOTE: Difficult situations for the learning are below:- Driving on a rough road.
- Driving in 6 mph (10 km/h) or less.
- Driving on a slope road.
- Rapid acceleration and deceleration.
After Learning
- Check that the indicators go off.
Learning method while stopped
- Steering Angle Neutral Position - Learn
Preconditions
- Vehicle on Level Ground
- Engine Started
- Front wheels positioned straight ahead
Procedure
- Operate in accordance with the following procedure the steering wheel:

- Turn it one rotation to the left and return the original position.
- Turn it one rotation to the right and return the original position.
- Turn it quarter to the left and return the original position.
- Turn it quarter to the right and return the original position.
- Turn it quarter to the left and return the original position.
- Turn it quarter to the right and return the original position.
After Learning
- Check that the indicators go off.
Learning with the HDS

Preconditions
Procedure
- Do the VSA sensor neutral position memorization - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Update or VSA Sensor Neutral Position Memorization .
NOTE: If when VSA sensor neutral position memorization for VSA system is performed, the steering angle neutral position is cleared and overwritten.
