FFCM Calibration
The following procedure explains how to calibrate the Forward Facing Camera Module (FFCM). The FFCM will need to be calibrated if the module is new or when the windshield is replaced.
Perform the following checks and setup prior to performing the calibration procedure:
- Confirm that the vehicle is unloaded (no luggage or extra weight being carried).
- Check and correct the tire pressures as needed.
- Check that the windshield is free of damage, is clean and that there are no impediments to the vision of the FFCM.
- Place the vehicle on level ground and in good light.
Small variations compared to the dimensions will prevent FFC calibration.
The following special tools are required for this procedure:
- 2030200000 - Calibration Panel, LDW
- From special tool 2015400000:
-
- 2015403000 - Stand
- 2015402000 - Block, Mounting
- Attach the 2015402000 - Block, Mounting to the 2030200000 - Calibration Panel, LDW.
- Mount the Calibration Panel to the 2015403000 - Stand
SETUP
- Position the special tool 2030200000 (1a) mounted on the 2015403000 - Stand with its center at a height (1b) of 1.38 meters from the ground.
- Position the vehicle with its longitudinal center line (1c) aligned with the center axis (1d) of the equipment (1a)
- Position the vehicle with its front wheel axle at a distance (1e) from the equipment of between 1.0 and 3.0 meters; the recommended distance is 1.5 meters
- The rear wheel axle must be parallel with the equipment (1a), therefore the two distances (1f) of the two rear wheels must be equal. Check the distances (1f) using special tool 2000025100 (1g) applied to the wheel lug nuts and with the help of a plumb line (1h).
- The front wheels must be aligned with the longitudinal axis (1c) of the vehicle (steering wheel in center position).
Make sure that the bubble is in the center of the level before beginning the scan tool procedure.
BEGIN CALIBRATION
If an "Incorrect Position" error is shown on the diagnostic scan tool while attempting to calibrate, use the floor to fender edge as an input instead of the axle height measurement.
- Connect the diagnostic scan tool and start the car. Any system that uses the FFCM must not be activated.
- Using the diagnostic scan tool, navigate to the Misc Functions menu under the FFCM.
- Start the calibration procedure using the diagnostic scan tool.
- The diagnosis scan tool will display a message indicating the end of the calibration procedure has been reached. In case of calibration failure, the diagnostic tool will indicate the causes.
- Disconnect the diagnostic scan tool and perform a full key cycle.
If during operation, the LDW+ system releases alerts inconsistent with the actual driving conditions (eg: car properly between lanes but notice the crossing lane), the system must be calibrated again.
