2.0L - Timing Cover

REMOVAL 

NOTE:

The engine is equipped with two knock sensors, the #1 knock sensor is located on the crankcase (intake side) near the timing cover. The second, #2 knock sensor, is located on the crankcase near the flywheel.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the generator. Refer to GENERATOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1) from the knock sensor (2b).
  4. Remove the knock sensor retaining screw (2a),
  5. Remove the knock sensor (2b) from the timing cover.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Inspect the knock sensor and wiring harness connector integrity.

  2. Position the knock sensor to the timing cover for installation.
  3. Using the knock sensor retaining screw (1b), secure the sensor (1a) and tighten the screw to the proper specification.. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Connect the wiring harness connector (2) to the knock sensor,
  5. Install the generator. Refer to GENERATOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
