Throttle Switches (CIS-E III)

Idle switch and full throttle switch provide throttle position data to both Fuel Injection Control Unit (FICU) and Ignition Control Unit (ICU). Throttle switches are located on throttle body.

Idle switch is closed when throttle plates are closed and opens when throttle opens approximately one degree. Idle switch signal determines operation of stabilizer valve, deceleration fuel shutoff and activation of a special ignition timing map.

Full throttle switch closes at about 10 degrees before full throttle. Full throttle switch signal determines full throttle enrichment and activation of a special timing map for full engine load.

ICU and FICU also use data from throttle switches to check operation of air sensor potentiometer.
