Visual Inspection

Verify customer complaint by operating suspected system. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Check for blown fuses. Check battery state of charge. Check charging system operation. Inspect for loose or corroded connections, damaged wiring harnesses and/or switches. Visually inspect all electrical wiring, looking for chafed, stretched, cut or pinched wiring. Ensure electrical connectors fit tightly and are not corroded. Check for a broken or partially broken wire inside insulation, which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected. Ensure any aftermarket electronic equipment is properly installed.

Ensure vacuum hoses are properly routed and are not pinched, cut, cracked or oil fouled. See VACUUM DIAGRAMS article to verify routing and connections (if necessary). Inspect air induction system for possible vacuum leaks.
