Function 04 - Basic Setting: Notes

Enter BASIC SETTING diagnostic function when instructed to by DTC testing procedure. BASIC SETTING diagnostic function is used to:

Key On, Engine Off

• Adapt throttle valve control module to ECM.
• Adapt kick down function of accelerator pedal to ECM (vehicles with automatic transmissions).

Engine Running

• Adaptation of HO2S control.
• Troubleshooting by targeted activation and deactivation of HO2S control, via display group 99 of measure value block.

Before entering BASIC SETTING diagnostic function. Ensure that no DTCs are stored in memory. See FUNCTION 02 - RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES . Run engine until coolant temperature is 185°F (85°C) or more. A/C is switch off. Transaxle is in Park or Neutral. Connect VAS 5051 or equivalent scan tool to DLC. DLC is located behind cover under left side of steering column. On scan tool, press "04" to select diagnostic function 04 - BASIC SETTING. Following scan tool instructions enter BASIC SETTING function. After last adaptation procedure is complete, end function 04 - BASIC SETTING by pressing "BACK ARROW" button on scan tool.
